An Ontario Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) is required when selling a vehicle, transferring ownership, or registering an out-of-province vehicle in Ontario. It confirms the vehicle meets minimum safety standards.
If the vehicle fails, we provide a written list of items that need repair. You can choose to have us fix them or take the vehicle elsewhere. If you proceed with repairs at SM Auto, we re-inspect at no additional charge.
Most inspections take 1–2 hours. If repairs are needed and completed with us, the full process can typically be done the same day.
